Taiwan President: "No policy shift" post phone call

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has stated that her phone call with Donald Trump last week ‘does not mean' there will be a shift in policy. Instead, she specified that “the phone call was a way for us to express our respect for the U.S. election as well as congratulate President-elect Trump on his win." No U.S. president or president-elect had spoken with the leader of Taiwan since 1979.
